Mac versus Windows vulnerability stats for 2007

The article comes with a nice chart….and it really looks horrible for all those Mac’tards….

The year 2007 has been an interesting year that brought us improved security with Windows Vista and Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). But to get some perspective of how many publicly known holes found in these two operating systems, Iâ ‚¬ „¢ve compiled all the security flaws in Mac OS X and Windows XP and Vista and placed them side by side. This is significant because it shows a trend that can give us a good estimate for how many flaws we can expect to find in the coming months. The more monthly flaws there are in the historical trend, the more likely it is that someone will find a hole to exploit in the future. For example back in April of this year, hackers took over a fully patched Macbook and won $10,000 plus the Macbook they hacked.
Edit: as WES correctly mentioned in his comment you really should read the full article and ask yourself how serious it is ![]()

Haha, what “balanced” reporting. Wondering if they were including all the applications the Mac ships with, I started clicking on the vulnerabilities to see if they were doing the usual job of counting every possible bug as an “OS X” bug, and what do I find on the first item? “Multiple unspecified vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player.” As if Adobe has never release bug-ridden software on Windows, or Adobes bugs belong to Apple.
A vulnerability in tcdump? Yeah, that terrifies me.
You have to actually read the article to decide if the headline is telling you the truth. Mac fanboys are a nuisance, sure, but never forget that the computer “trade press” makes their money selling you Microsoft products.
@wes:
first of all: hi
well i agree that the article & its way of comparison is somehow strange
nevertheless it was fun to read, especially if you have experiences in both worlds
