Ein weiterer kleiner netter Shortcut der das arbeiten erleichtern kann.

Wie ihr vielleicht schon gemerkt habt, mag ich die Option Toolbars an meine Bedürfnisse anzupassen. Das geht los mit dem Wechsel auf kleine Icons um Platz zu sparen und endet meist mit dem um-/aus-sortieren der Icons.

Die Verwendung von Stacks ist sicherlich geschmachsacke. Ich für meinen Teil setze sie sehr spärlich (Download/Incoming-Ordner & SSH-Aliase) ein und in dem Rahmen finde ich es auch sehr praktisch.

Bin gerade über diesen Post auf die Frage gestoßen ob man die Stack-Ansicht nicht per se auf max. Bildschirmgröße stellen kann.

Eine der für mich wohl besten neuen Funktionen seit 10.5 ist Quick Look. 

Dies liegt wohl in der einfachen Handhabe (schneller Zugriff via Space) sowie dem relativ großen Extension-Support sofern man diesen durch zusätzliche Plugins erweitert.

Ich verwende Quick Look trotz alledem primär für den schnellen Blick auf Grafiken, vielleicht auch weil Mac OS X ab Werk keinen für mich brauchbaren anderen Grafik-Viewer hat. Xee kann ich in dem Zuge empfehlen (andere Vorschläge als Image-Viewer ?) für alle die Preview auch nicht abkönnen, aber zurück zu Quick Look.

It seems that still some people get Macs without Boot Camp Assistant installed.

Basicly that should not happen with Leopard Macs, as Boot Camp is officially Part of Mac OS X since 10.5

Es gibt verschiedene Wege die Icons in Mac OS X zu ersetzen. Da ich heute selbst über ein Problem in diesem Kontext gestolpert bin werde ich nochmal kurz darauf eingehen.

Eumel blogte hier gestern über ein schönes neues Icon-Set namens Pry Systems. Nach kurzem Blick auf die Icons kam bei mir der Haben-Reflex und ich hab mir die 42 MB Icons heruntergeladen.

Also erstmal LiteIcon gestartet um die Haupt-Icons meiner 10.5 Installation abzuändern. Dies funktioniert wie immer mit LiteIcon sehr stressfrei.

Aliase sind sehr nützlich im Alltag. Ich verwende dies meist für häufig frequentierte Netzwerklaufwerke, die ich mir nicht permanent mounten will.

Mac OS X bietet einen Weg an dies ohne den nervigen Alias-Zusatz im Namen zu erstellen, im Kern ist es aber ein Alias wie jeder andere.

Wie geht das ?

• Im Finder zur Quelle des zu erstellenden Alias navigieren
• Option & Command Keys gedrückt halten und die Alias-Quelle vom Finder-Fenster auf den Desktop ziehen

Manchmal sagt ein Bild mehr wie tausend Worte….

About DocumentPalette:

Create new documents directly in open folders

Document Palette runs in the background and allows you to create new documents in the current folder. With a folder active in Finder, press Control+Option+Command+N to make the palette appear, then select the document type you wish to create.

Using the palette

From an active folder, press the key combination below.

After the palette pops up, select a document type and you’re done.

Customizing the palette

You can add any type of document to the palette. Simply create a blank document using an editor, then drag it to the document list in Document Palette’s Preferences window.

Not just empty files

Add files with content to create document types that work like stationery pads or templates.

I am searching right now a solution to create custom contextual menu items for my finder and stumbled upon this document from apple about:

Ever wondered how to “clear” the Finder’s Open With… contextual menu choices of any extraneous or older applications? (This is the menu that appears when you control-click or “right-click” a document icon.)

If your Open With… menu is filled with too many choices to easily scroll through, you can remove the less-commonly used choices. These steps will clear the list except for the most current applications that can open your document.

1. From the Finder Go menu, choose Home.
2. Open the Library folder in the Home window.
3. Open the Preferences folder.
4. Find com.apple.LaunchServices.plist.
5. Rename “com.apple.LaunchServices”, such as to “com.apple.LaunchServices.old”, or move it to the Trash.

The next time you use the Open With…. contextual menu in the Finder, only current applications will be listed. Some items may return if the application that controls them adds itself back to the list.
