I love my Mac Pro since the first second but while working with several VM’s i realized it has to manage continuous pageouts.

Tech Specs:

Model Name:  Ã‚  Ã‚   Mac Pro
Model Identifier:  Ã‚  Ã‚   MacPro1,1
Processor Name:  Ã‚  Ã‚   Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed:  Ã‚  Ã‚   2.66 GHz
Number Of Processors:  Ã‚  Ã‚   2
Total Number Of Cores:  Ã‚  Ã‚   4
L2 Cache (per processor):  Ã‚  Ã‚   4 MB
Memory:  Ã‚  Ã‚   2 GB
Bus Speed:  Ã‚  Ã‚   1.33 GHz

Those 2 GB of RAM o use at the moment are realized with 4 x 512 MB FB-Dimm’s. So i started my search for informations on that topic … the useful results are listed at the end of that article.

Conclusion (for myself):

Order 4 x 1 GB additional RAM, lets see how that helps =)

Still playing a lot with AppleScript in Xcode 3.0

One interessting issue….since about 2 or 3 days it seems that my code needs much more time to compile. Xcode in general feels a bit laggy.

Well as the Tierprogramm code is still < 2000 lines i keep wondering about that.

Had the ueber-lag yesterday. The remarkable part is that i was not compiling at this moment. Just crazy. Restarting XCode solved the issue.

Till today i was using MenuMeters and MagiCal to add several functions to my main menu bar in OSX.

Today i realized there is a non-widget version of iStats called iStatsMenu. The application can be found here.

Functions:

  • Monitor Temps
  • Monitor Fans
  • Monitor Memory
  • Monitor CPU
  • Monitor Network
  • Monitor Disks
  • Display Date & Time ( the MagiCal part)

A short preview

The configuration is easily done via a System Preferences entry.

I am using it on my both Mac’s and it looks & works as supposed. I can really recommend this tool as MenuMeters alternative.
