10.5 ::: Problem with my Desktop and Context Menu
Posted by: fidel in mac, tags: 10.5, bugs, context-menu, leopard, missing-iconsUnfortunally i had another problem with one of my Leopard installations.
Basicly the problem was:
- No single Desktop-Icon was visible
- No Context-Menu on my Desktop via right-mouse-click
- No Drag and drop to Desktop possible
I have tried several things (all without success)
- Restarting Finder
- Deleting Finder’s plist & restarting Finder
- Fixing Permissions via Disk Utility
- Resetting PRAM / NVRam
Then the final solution:
- Installed PathFinder (trial mode)
- Started PathFinder
- Enabled the option to hide all Desktop elements
- Disabled the option to hide all Desktop elements
….and that was the solution already. honestly it is a real shame that i was forced to install a 3rd party-app to fix a finder / display problem in Leopard which was for sure not related to this 3rd party-app (as it wasn’t installed before)
Noticed on macosxhints.com that several other people had similar problems (not really 1:1 the same)
